How to Get Your First Freelance Client

1. Understand What an Internship Is

Nowadays it has become very difficult not to get a job, along with that competition among people has also increased and getting a job in this big crowd is quite difficult. I want to tell you that internship and job both are different, if we get a job, it can be for a long time with good salary but in internship it is just the opposite, in this you are given a fixed time like 6 months, 2 months etc. If you get an internship for 2 months, then you cannot drop it in between, until your internship is not completed, you cannot leave it and in this you You are not given much salary and you can even quit the job and you are also given more salary.

2. Identify Your Skills & Interests

This point is most important, if you do not understand this point correctly then you may not be able to get an internship. The meaning of this point is that first of all you should know in which niche you are interested like web developer, digital marketing etc. Out of these whichever you like the most, you can select that niche, if you do not do this and select any niche, then you do not feel like working and also you cannot stay in that work for a long time, hence it is very important to take the right decision if You have to select a perfect niche like which profession is trending right now, you can do it by doing research, there is a plus point in this that if you select a trending niche then you will get internship quickly

3. Build a Strong Resume & Portfolio

First of all, let us talk a little about resume and portfolio. Though the work of both is similar but there are some things which can be a little different. Our details are there in the resume and our details are there in the portfolio too, but just like we add live project link, add images in the portfolio, we cannot do it in the resume and it is very important to have both, so let us know.

  • Resume: You have to put the most important things like contact details, summary, projects, skills etc. in your resume and keep in mind the template of the resume, it should not be too designer, it should be simple and normal in which our details will be shown and it is shared only when someone asks for it.
  • Portfolio: It is important to create a portfolio because people can see it without sharing it It is publicly visible online It goes live online only if you host it You can use hostinger for this The portfolio will have hero section, CTA (call to action), about, skills, projects, contact us and footer All this is important And you add projects, on clicking them you should get redirected to your actual project This is not necessary but it is very helpful The client or company will be able to see your project live which builds trust.

4. Search for Internship Opportunities

If you search for internship on your own according to your niche, then it also has its own benefits. For this, you can contact all these platforms like LinkedIn, Internshala, Indeed, Naukri.com and apart from this, you can also contact the official pages of the companies. This process will be quite good and helpful. Where there is a huge crowd for job or internship, you can follow them yourself who are matching with your niche because everyone shares their resume and portfolio. You can also build your network. This is also beneficial.

5. Apply Smartly (Not Randomly)

This process can be a little difficult but it will help a lot in getting an internship. What happens in this is that the resume which you are sharing everywhere to any company, you have to edit it i.e. customize it according to the company. If you make a resume according to a particular company and then share it, then your chances of getting an internship become high. This process also works, the only problem is that you have to work harder.

6. Prepare for the Interview

Actually this is a matter for later but it is important if you practice well from the beginning itself then you won't face any problem. See, before your internship you have to give an interview. There are some companies which start their work even without an interview but unique companies do not do this at all. What you have to do is you have to practice for the interview. As soon as HR asks a question, you should answer it immediately. There will be self questions in it and according to a niche, there will be technical questions which you must know.

7. Learn & Perform Well During Internship

Many people do not know that internship is not just about earning money or getting a certificate, its real meaning is to learn skills, that is, when you take an internship, your job is not just to do the work, you also have to learn from other seniors, you can learn from them how to get a job with a big package, how to crack an interview, how to improve your skills, etc. You can create tasks for yourself which will enhance your skills and knowledge and develop a mindset of learning which will help you in big companies in future.

8. Get Feedback & Build Connections

If you are working in any company, try to connect with your mentor or manager, make friends with them, build your network and get them to review your work because you know that you are doing good work but it becomes easy to know when you hear from people, through this you can improve your skills and most importantly, build a connection, only then you will get maximum benefit.
